KWVA catches some airwaves with its new EMU studio

Behind the mic isn’t the only place where KWVA staff used to hide.

The UO’s student radio station spent 23 years tucked away in a former women’s bathroom in the Erb Memorial Union. Now it’s hard to miss.

The station recently moved into a brand-new space in the renovated EMU. It includes two air studios and two production booths and looks out at Falling Sky Pizzeria and the Craft Center. General manager Charlotte Nisser talked about the new studios in an interview with KLCC.

“This space was designed for us,” Nisser said. “So we got to figure out the layout and decide where the studios were placed, what the size of the studios was and make it fit our needs as opposed to the space we were in which was really just kind of the space that was available that we were given.”
