Limited utility work to take place on UO riverfront property

The Eugene Water and Electric Board will decommission some unused steam and electric infrastructure in the riverfront section of the university’s North Campus area over the next two weeks.

The work involves dismantling and capping five steam and electrical vaults, removing and abating any asbestos in those vaults, installing erosion control measures, and repairing the site.

Small crews for the utility’s contractor will begin erosion control work March 15. Work on the vaults will begin March 17 and is scheduled to end March 30.

Members of the campus community may see some access restrictions in the area. Construction noises can be expected.
