OA Classification and Compensation Project Team launches survey

The University is seeking information from officers of administration as an important next step in the ongoing OA Classification and Compensation Project.

The Human Resources-led project enters a new phase as the Project Team launches a survey of all officers of administration employed at the university. The survey seeks information from OAs about job duties and responsibilities, which is a crucial component of the market analysis and development of a job framework.

OAs will receive an email invitation to participate in a Qualtrics survey on Aug. 31. Human resources requests that completed surveys and position descriptions, if needed, be returned by Sept.15.

The survey asks OAs to review position descriptions currently on file and indicate the accuracy of the information.  OAs, in collaboration with supervisors, are given the opportunity to submit an updated position description if needed.

Nancy Resnick, chief human resources officer, said reaching out to OAs as part of the project reflects the importance the Office of Human Resources places on open, clear communication with employees.

“Inviting direct input from OAs ensures that employees have the opportunity to meaningfully engage in this important phase of the class comp review process that affects them specifically,” she said.

The purpose of the project is to establish a classification and compensation system for OAs that makes the UO competitive in the market, attracts and retains talent and rewards top performers.  Up-to-date information about the project, including FAQs, can be found on the project webpage.

Position descriptions for many OA positions were submitted by units and departments in the early phases of the project.

“The OA survey is a critical part of the project plan to ensure we have accurate position descriptions and to facilitate discussion between OAs and supervisors about duties and responsibilities,” said Kaia Rogers, director of HR programs.

Teri Rowe, OA Council chair and project team member, said she encourages OAs to take the opportunity to get involved in this project.

“The information requested offers necessary insight into positions and engages OAs directly in the project, which will result in a comprehensive review as the classification and compensation structure is developed,” Rowe said.
