Orientation offered for new faculty members and OAs

First-year and transfer students won’t be the only fresh faces on campus this fall — hundreds of new faculty members and officers of administration are joining the UO family.

To help welcome these new OAs and faculty, the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs is hosting a full-day orientation event and welcome dinner Sept. 21.

Ken Doxsee, vice provost for academic affairs, encourages all new faculty and OAs who have joined the university in the last year to attend the orientation.

“We are excited to welcome our new colleagues to campus,” Doxsee said. “This orientation will provide an overview of President Schill’s institutional priorities and the many resources available to help guide their careers at the University of Oregon.”

The full-day event will feature an introduction to the president, provost and other senior leaders; discussions on teaching and research at the university; a campus resources table session; and opportunities to network and socialize with colleagues. Afterward, new faculty members and OAs are invited to join Schill and Provost Scott Coltrane for a family-friendly welcome dinner.

New faculty and OAs are asked to register online by Sept. 16. For more information and a list of other workshops and training for new faculty members and OAs, see the orientation webpage.
