President Gottfredson signs three benefits, converts administrative rules to policies

President Michael Gottfredson has enacted three new or expanded benefits, allowing unrepresented faculty and officers of administration to enjoy more generous family leave benefits and be able to send a second child to the UO at a discount, as well as expanding sabbatical compensation for faculty.

Details about the benefits, along with links to additional information about taking advantage of the benefits, can be found on the president’s website.

In addition, Gottfredson has converted all of the UO administrative rules (OARs) to UO policies as part of the transition from the Oregon University System to the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon. The UO Board of Trustees assumed governance of the university on July 1.

Now that UO policies have been adopted precisely as they were written as OARs, Gottfredson will establish a policy review advisory group to conduct a deliberate and thorough review all of these policies and recommend whether any need to be updated, modified, rescinded, or remain unchanged.

Both of these actions were announced during the spring and the campus community was invited to comment on the proposals before the final action was taken.
