President Schill seeks additional faculty-authored books

UO President Michael Schill is clearing more space on his shelves for books authored by UO faculty.

Schill will hold another series of drop-in sessions to meet and talk with faculty members who would like to contribute books. The next session is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the president’s office in Johnson Hall.

Schill has hosted a number of faculty book events since his arrival in 2015. So far, he has collected books from more than 225 UO faculty members. The books cover a multitude of topics and are written by scholars from every school and college at the university,

“I love these drop-in sessions. I look forward to meeting members of the faculty and learning about their fields of study,” Schill said. “It is wonderful to be able to pull a book from the shelf for reference and display to my guests some of the work of our incredible faculty.”

Faculty members who are not able to attend the December session are invited to drop off their texts at the Office of the President. Additional book drop-off sessions are expected to be scheduled.
