Researchers seek participants for brain study on eating

The Social and Affective Neuroscience Lab is looking for UO faculty and staff members who’d like to participate in a healthy eating study that will explore food cravings, eating behaviors and self-control around unhealthy food choices.

Being sought are participants who are overweight or obese and 18-60 years old. Students also are welcome to be part of the study. Applicants must have normal or corrected vision, no current brain disorders or mental illnesses and not be taking medications that affect normal cognitive function.

The study will involve eight training sessions in the lab, located in the Lewis Integrative Sciences Building, and require a commitment of 15-17 hours over 13 months. Participants will undergo two MRI brain scans and five full-body fat-composition assessments in a bod pod.

Participants could be paid up to $425 over the course of the study, which is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Those interested in being part of the study should complete an online prescreening assessment. Questions about participating may be submitted via email to Victoria Braun.
