Retirement information now posted to new HR website

One of the most popular employee education requests at the UO is about planning for retirement, according to members of the UO benefits team.

To help employees stay informed and on target for retirement, Human Resources is now regularly sharing information about retirement education on a dedicated webpage, on Around the O and in the Around the O Workplace email. This will replace the mass emails used previously to communicate retirement education opportunities.

For example, HR posts on the retirement education webpage opportunities for one-to-one financial counseling on campus with an investment adviser. A limited number of sessions are offered each month and new dates are published about every three months. Cindi Peterson, benefits manager, says these sessions tend to book quickly, so she encourages people to check the HR Retirement Education webpage regularly for new dates and links to other retirement planning resources including instructions on how to contact a plan representative.

Other online resources include the Oregon Public Universities Retirement Plans quarterly newsletter containing insight and education on many topics related to retirement savings and preparation. The summer 2016 issue is now available.

The Public Employees Retirement System, Fidelity Investments and TIAA investment advisors also provide retirement education. Links to these resources are also available on the HR Retirement Education webpage.
