Second of five small-group discussions on armed police issue to be held at noon today (Feb. 21)

The second of five small-group meetings with interim UOPD Chief Carolyn McDermed will be from noon to 1 p.m. today in the EMU Board Room, as discussions continue on the issue of arming campus police officers.

The first of three campus-wide forums on the issue was Feb. 11. The remaining forums are on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the EMU Fir Room; and Wednesday, March 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

After today's initial small-group discussion, McDermed will host similar meetings:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the EMU Walnut Room
  • Friday, March 1, from noon to 1 p.m., in the Bean Residence Hall Moore Dining Room
  • Tuesday, March 5, from noon to 1 p.m., in the EMU Walnut Room
