Second seminar in a four-part wellness series offered Jan. 26

In a seminar offered by the Office of Human Resources, faculty and staff members are invited to learn about winter seasonal effects and strategies for coping with winter blues.

The seminar will be offered Friday, Jan. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in Crater Lake Room North in the Erb Memorial Union. Registration for the event is available online.

It will define “winter blues” and “seasonal affective disorder” and explain how to tell the difference. Participants will also learn strategies for coping with winter stress.

HR is partnering with Cascade Centers, the UO’s employee assistance provider, to offer a series of seminars. Each free seminar focuses on a different aspect of personal well-being.

Each seminar will be broadcast live via a webinar to UO Portland and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston. Following each seminar, a recording of the presentation will be posted to the HR website.

Previous seminars are available for viewing on the recorded wellness presentations webpage. More information about the seminar series is available on the HR website, which includes the next installment, titled “Explore Your Relationship with Money,” on Feb. 15.

Cascade Centers offers webinars on a wide variety of topics. Benefit-eligible employees also can receive confidential one-on-one counseling from a licensed provider through Cascade Centers. More information about the university employee assistance program is available on the HR website.
