Staff members invited to serve as study abroad assistants

Global Education Oregon is accepting applications from UO staff members who are interested in serving as study abroad program assistants at select locations in 2020.

Applicants must be officers of administration, classified staff or non-tenure-track faculty members who have at least a half-time position assigned to advise students and administration. UO staff from all departments are encouraged to apply.

Those selected will work closely with the Global Education Oregon director, faculty leader or program coordinator to determine where you will be assigned.

The form and extent of participation varies, depending on an applicant’s background, experience and interest; type and duration of study abroad program; faculty leader, program goals and expectations; and program logistics.

If selected, a recipient will have the cost of travel, lodging, some meals and related fees, such as travel and health insurance, covered by a grant. The grant amount is determined by a selection committee but does not include salary or per diem compensation.

In 2020, the following Global Education Oregon centers will be open for applications: London, England; Segovia, Spain; Oviedo, Spain; and Siena, Italy. Applicants can also request participation in a UO faculty-led program, with approval from participating faculty members.

Applications are due March 15. Those interested must fill out a two-page study abroad grant cover sheet and statement of purpose, along with a written endorsement from a supervisor and approval to use vacation or leave time.

The applications will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of UO faculty members and international program staff, with final selection made after interviews with relevant international program staff, faculty program leaders and program coordinators.
