Summer is active with campus construction

The Straub Hall renovation, expansion of the Student Recreation Center and other University of Oregon construction projects are expected to impact streets and parking on campus this summer.

The Straub Hall project, which is underway, will result in limited access to 15th Avenue between Agate and University streets from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, through Aug. 18. Pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the south side of 15th – across from the construction site – as directed by flaggers.

Onyx Street on the west side of Straub Hall will be closed to all traffic except construction vehicles, which will use Onyx as a northbound, one-way street, exiting through parking lots 29A and 29B, behind the Erb Memorial Union.

Lot 29D – just north of Straub Hall – is closed for duration of Straub Hall renovation. Access to Lot 29A (at the east end of the lot behind the EMU) will be via University Street only. No parking will be allowed on Onyx Street.

The Straub Hall project is expected to completed late in 2014.

Traffic flow and on-street parking on East 15th Avenue will also be impacted by a sewer replacement project that began July 15 and is expected to be completed by Aug. 16. Construction will proceed east to west, from Agate Street to University Street. The Amtrak bus stop will be relocated to corner of Agate and 15th Avenue, and pedestrian traffic will be permitted in the areas where construction is not occurring, as directed by flaggers.

Access to Parking Lot 31 (next to the Bowerman Building) will be closed for short periods of time, with reserved parking relocated to Lot 32 (south end of Hayward Field). The sewer project is scheduled to completed at the end of August.

Parking Lot 30 (behind Mac Court) closed on July 15 for the start of the Student Recreation Center expansion and renovation. The upper portion of the  lot will reopen in mid-October, but the lower portion (behind the covered tennis courts) will remain closed for duration of project.

Athletic reserved spaces will be relocated to University Street during the upper lot closure.

Pedestrian and bicycle access between 18th and 15th Avenues, along the path between the Howe extension and outdoor tennis courts, will be closed until the project is completed in late 2014.

Construction Updates will be posted weekly on the UO Parking website.
