Survey will guide research support on campus

A new, university-wide facility seeks your input as it determines how best to support faculty and student research efforts.

The Center for Assessment, Statistics, and Evaluation is a research core facility to be housed within the Office for Research, Innovation and Graduate Education.

CASE will serve as a research support resource for faculty members and graduate students throughout the university who need assistance with design, analysis, statistics or methods; as well as to the larger research community in Oregon, Director Joseph Stevens said.

In this survey, the facility seeks your input to assess the needs of faculty and graduate students across campus.

The survey assesses the methodological and statistical areas where support is needed and identifies individuals with the expertise who may be interested in serving as CASE affiliates.

CASE services will be provided on an ongoing or as-needed basis. Clients will typically be billed at hourly rates that depend on the level of expertise required and whether or not the client is affiliated with the university.

In addition, CASE will establish programs to provide support for specialized circumstances, such as pre-proposal or exploratory efforts. Services will center around:

  • Providing technical support for statistical analysis and research design using a variety of models and software;
  • Assisting in assessment and measurement issues in instrument development, validation, and administration;
  • Serving as a contract unit to provide program evaluation, research design and analysis support for researchers carrying out grant activities and/or preparing grant proposals.
