Title IX training helps explain new reporting responsibilities

Space is still available for an upcoming training on employee reporting responsibilities based on the Student Sexual- and Gender-Based Harassment and Violence Complaint and Response Policy implemented in September.

The training session is Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Swindells Room in the Erb Memorial Union and will be facilitated by a Title IX representative. Employees should register to attend.

The training focuses specifically on the new policy and reporting obligations. It is designed to engage employees in a dialogue by reserving time in the 45-minute session for questions and answers.

Quarterly trainings are also conducted to help employees understand all forms of prohibited discrimination and employee reporting obligations. The quarterly training is an opportunity to learn about what behaviors may constitute prohibited discrimination and harassment, to understand employee reporting obligations and to gain practical tips on how to handle conversations with students that may disclose difficult experiences.

The next offering is Nov. 7 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Employees may sign up through the course registration page.

The Title IX website provides resources to address and resolve incidents of gender discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Employees can learn more about the new Student Sexual- and Gender-Based Harassment and Violence Complaint and Response Policy and their reporting responsibilities on the policy overview webpage and in the employee reporting responsibilities section of the Title IX website.
