UA and UO agree to pause current collective bargaining

United Academics and the University of Oregon have agreed to pause bargaining until later this summer. This will allow the campus community to conclude this academic year with a focus on student success, research and preparing to welcome incoming students to campus in the fall.

This pause will also allow both parties to reconvene at a time when there is more certainty about the amount of state funding for the university, as well as expected fall enrollment. Both of these are critical financial variables for the university community and bargaining.

The parties look forward to resuming discussions and are optimistic that in-person bargaining will be possible later this summer. While Zoom has enabled important discussions during the pandemic, it is not a replacement for the dialogue and consensus building the physical bargaining table provides.

The joint message sent to UO faculty is available on the HR website.
