University to conduct student-directed employee survey

The Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance is conducting the first student-directed employee survey beginning Aug. 15.

In 2017, the UO implemented the student sexual and gender-based harassment and violence complaint and response policy, which updated employees’ responsibilities when a student discloses an incident of sex- or gender-based harassment or violence.

Under the policy, most employees are student-directed and have specific obligations to assist students in connecting with resources following the students’ wishes. All employees who are not designated reporters or confidential employees are student-directed employees.

The survey will seek general information regarding sex- and gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence disclosed by students to student-directed employees during academic year 2018-19. It will not seek information that identifies the student. The survey is required by UO policy to help the university understand and respond to sex- and gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence.

Student-directed employees will receive an email with a link to the survey and will be able to access it on the Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance website.

This survey is a separate survey from the recent 2019 AAU Campus Climate Survey conducted last spring which asked current students about Title IX-related issues on campus.
