The UO bus pass is shifting to digital starting fall term

The way UO employees ride the bus is changing this fall.

The Lane Transit District will no longer accept UO ID cards to ride the bus. Instead, employees will need to get a benefit code from Transportation Services and redeem the code for an annual pass in the Umo Mobility App.

Riding the bus will then be as simple as scanning a barcode in the app when boarding the bus. Instructions on how to retrieve and redeem a benefit code are available on the Transportation Services website.

Employees can obtain their benefit code immediately, and the annual pass started Sept. 20. A transition period will be in place during fall term, and after Nov. 30 all students and employees will need to use Umo, pronounced ‘you-mo.’

LTD transitioned to a new fare management system in 2019. The UO is joining other group pass programs, such as Lane Community College, K-12 school districts and honored riders, in adopting Umo.

The change also will give the UO ridership information on how many employees and students ride the bus and which routes they use.

For those without access to a smartphone, Transportation Services has a small stock of TouchPass cards. After obtaining a card, employees can log on to UmoPass.com and redeem their code with a card instead of using the app.

Cards can be obtained at Transportation Services or, beginning Sept. 27, the Erb Memorial Union card office.
