UO earns gold status for having a bicycle-friendly campus

The University of Oregon has earned Gold level Bicycle Friendly University status from the League of American Bicyclists.

The League of American Bicyclists is the premier grassroots advocacy organization encouraging better bicycling and protecting the rights of people who bike.

The Bicycle Friendly University status is an independent third-party accreditation process. The review covers many fields, including bicycle advocacy, planning, infrastructure, education, promotion, support, equity, achievements and future plans.

“It is so energizing to have the University of Oregon among our cohort of 212 Bicycle Friendly Universities across the country,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists.

The application process for 2020 was a collaborative effort between many campus partners including Transportation Services, the UO Bike Program, Office of Sustainability and Campus Planning. The UO has been designated a Bicycle Friendly University since 2011.
