The University of Oregon Opera Ensemble will present a program of modernized scenes. In addition, a UO dancer will collaborate with digital and visual artists for a unique performance experience at the Hult Center.

Also, the University of Oregon’s Community Music Institute will present two concerts by young children. In addition, college-aged students will present eclectic chamber fare at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. University Symphony

The University Symphony will perform the West Coast premiere of Roberto Sierra's new work for brass and percussion titled "Mambo Metalico," as well as Dvorak's "Cello Concerto in B minor, op. 104" which will feature UO Concerto Competition winner Kelly Quesada.

UO Opera Ensemble: "Opera Out of Time"

The UO Opera Ensemble, fresh from placing second in the National Opera Association’s annual Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition, will present scenes from popular operas, with a modern twist. Was Carmen a member of the Mafia? Are Hansel and Gretel lost in a rough neighborhood in Detroit? Was Don Giovanni just a rich and successful politician making his moves on an assistant? The Opera Ensemble lets its collective imagination run wild with scenes from "Cosi fan Tutte", "Les Contes d'Hoffmann," "Faust," "Carmen" and other favorites.

Harmonic Laboratory: "Four Corners: An Evening of Dance, Music, and Digital Art"

Harmonic Laboratory, a collective of artists, thinkers, educators and innovators, presents "Four Corners," a mixed-media event featuring the work of UO dance faculty member Brad Garner and a cast nine UO dancers including Shannon Mockli and Sarah Ebert, as well as special guests Cynthia Gutierrez-Garner and Brandin Steffensen. The event will also include animation and interactive media by UO digital arts faculty members John Park and Jon Bellona, and original music by Jeremy Schropp and the local Eugene bands Medium Troy and Hamilton Beach. An AFTERGLOW party in the Hult Center lobby, sponsored by the City of Eugene, will immediately follow the Friday performance. 

All That Brass!

A variety of brass ensembles perform crowd-pleasing original works and transcriptions. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office, 541-346-4363. Included are the UO Horn Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, the Track Town Trombones, and the Apocalyptic Brass ensemble.

UO Percussion Ensembles

The Oregon Percussion Ensemble (Pius Cheung, director) and University Percussion Ensemble (Sean Wagoner, director) join forces for a joint concert. UO Gospel Singers

The UO Gospel Singers, fresh from their spring tour of China, will perform an energetic and interactive set, including a song in Chinese to commemorate the trip. The concert will include an appearance by special guest drummer Oscar Watson.

Dance Quarterly

The University of Oregon’s Department of Dance presents Dance Quarterly, an informal performance of dance composition, improvisation, and repertory class work. The event will showcase the processes of undergraduate and graduate student dancers in developing choreography reflective of their own voices and artistry.

Chamber Music on Campus

Student chamber ensembles will give a free lunch hour "Chamber Music on Campus" concert at the UO’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Performances will include a Mozart duo for violin and viola; a Rossini duo for cello and bass; 18th century shape-note tunes arranged for bassoon quartet; a Beethoven duo for clarinet and tuba; and a Scriabin etude arranged for flute, saxophone, bass clarinet, and marimba.

UO Community Music Institute's Chamber Players

Middle and high school-aged students of the UO's Community Music Institute will perform chamber music selections.

UO Choral Ensembles Concert

Spring Dance Loft

Tickets are available at the door. The University of Oregon’s Department of Dance presents the Spring Dance Loft, a showcase of work by undergraduate and graduate students in the department. The concert will showcase nine student choreographers, representing a range of backgrounds and styles.

Suzuki Strings Spring Concert: "Around the World"

Students ages three through ten perform on violin, viola, and cello. Material will include the folk songs of various countries in a fun, family-friendly setting.
