UOPD chief finalists visit campus

The first two of three finalists for the UO chief of police position are visiting campus this week, and their names and resumes are available now.

James Miyashiro, senior director of safety operations at the University of LaVerne in LaVerne, California, visits Eugene on Tuesday, July 12. Matthew Carmichael, chief of police at the University of California, Davis, comes to the UO on Friday, July 15. Resumes are available on the UOPD website.

A third candidate is scheduled to visit July 25; the name and resume will be posted three business days before on the UOPD website.

During a full day of interviews and tours, each candidate will have a session open to any students from 11 to 11:50 a.m., a public presentation and question-and-answer session from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and a meeting open to any faculty and staff from 3:40 to 4:25 p.m. Miyashiro’s sessions will all be in Susan Campbell Hall, Room 111, while Carmichael’s will all be in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

All interested campus community members are strongly encouraged to attend.

An online feedback form will be available on the UOPD website the first day of each candidate's visit.
