UOPD releases sketch of campus office burglary suspect

A witness description has helped the University of Oregon Police Department create a sketch of a potential suspect in a string of burglaries in campus offices.

One or more thieves have broken into faculty and staff offices in Gerlinger, Lawrence, Anstett and Willamette halls, using a tool to pry open office doors and steal computers and other electronics. Ten similar incidents were reported between April 26 and May 23, usually occurring between 6 p.m. and midnight.

A person working in Columbia Hall was able to describe a suspicious person seen after-hours, resulting in a composite drawing by a UOPD sketch artist. The witness described a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds, with a gaunt face, light skin and reddish cheeks. The man wore a yellow UO hat, dark-colored wind pants and a sweatshirt.

The burglaries are unsolved and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information about these or similar incidents should call UOPD at 541-346-2919.
