UO's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art announces 2013-14 exhibition schedule

Exhibitions for the 2013-14 season of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will feature an eclectic mix that ranges from photography to contemporary art, the museum announced recently.

Features include:

  • “By Way of These Eyes: The Hyland Collection of Photography” on view Sept. 28 to Dec. 31, opening the new season of exhibitions.
  • “Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker’s Tales of Slavery and Power” a touring exhibition curated by Jessi DiTillio, assistant curator, on view Jan. 25 to April 8, 2014.
  • “The Human Touch: Selections from the RBC Wealth Management Art Collection,” on view April 26 to Sept. 7, 2014.

In addition to the exhibitions on view in the museum’s Barker Gallery, several smaller exhibitions are planned throughout the year. They include “Korda and the Revolutionary Image,” an exhibition featuring nineteen photographs by Alberto Korda; “Ave Maria: Marian Devotional Works from Eastern and Western Christendom,” which explores representations of the Virgin and iconic scenes from her life; and “Art of the Athlete II,” featuring work created by UO student athletes from football, soccer and more.
