Update on Transform IT focus of Jan. 28 town hall meeting

Students, faculty and staff invited to attend a town hall meeting on Transform IT, the University of Oregon’s information technology restructuring process, on Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

Jessie Minton, vice provost for information services and chief information officer, will present details of the proposed team structure and service levels for user support services, a new team in Information Services. Members of the campus community are welcome to submit questions in advance to Kristin Smith at klsmith@uoregon.edu or can simply ask questions at the meeting.

This town hall meeting, which was rescheduled from earlier in January, will take place before the first staffing transitions into the new team. IT staff from the School of Journalism and Communication and the College of Design are scheduled to join user support services soon, with those changes likely kicking off in late February.

The user support services implementation project is one of several ongoing initiatives within Transform IT. A storage and backup analysis project launched in June, and an enterprise university applications project kicked off in December. Other transformative efforts underway include the campus email projectand the communications and collaborative technologies program, formerly referred to as unified communications.

More information about Transform IT, including frequent project updates, is available on the Transform IT website.
