Using art, athletes reach out to an injured UCC student

Art and athletics came together in an unexpected way recently, bringing a group of UO athletes together to help one of the victims of the Umpqua Community College shooting tragedy.

About two weeks after the crisis, the word went out that one of the most seriously injured Umpqua students was being treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend and needed something to brighten her room. Visual stimuli would help her overcome brain injuries.

Members of a class called Art of the Athlete stepped up, creating vibrant, colorful artwork to liven up her room and help her on her long journey to recovery. For the full story, see “A Thousand Picture Words” on goducks.com.
