Wellness series focuses on balancing work and family

The last seminar in the summer wellness series for faculty and staff members will be offered Thursday, Aug. 23, with a focus on balancing work and family. It takes place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Redwood Auditorium in the Erb Memorial Union.

The seminar acknowledges the challenges employees can encounter when balancing their professional and personal obligations. The presenter will discuss the effect stressors have on an individual’s physical health, emotional well-being, and work productivity and offer strategies and techniques to reduce stress.

Registration for the event is available online. The presentation will be broadcast live via a webinar to UO Portland and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston.

Following the seminar, a recording of the presentation will be posted to the human resources website. Previous seminars are available for viewing on the recorded wellness presentations webpage.

Human resources is planning future wellness seminars. Topics and registration information will be provided when the next series launches this fall.

Cascade Centers, the university’s employee assistance provider, offers webinars on a variety of topics. Benefit-eligible employees also can receive confidential one-on-one counseling from a licensed provider through Cascade Centers.
