Yong Zhao named to list of most influential education scholars

A national education publication has named the UO’s Yong Zhao the ninth most influential university-based education scholar in the United States.

Zhao, a professor in the UO’s College of Education, was included in the annual ranking by Education Week. Zhao ranked similarly in 2013 and 2014.

Zhao oversees the COE's Global and Online Education unit, is a professor in the Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership, and is a widely cited author on the importance of entrepreneurship and creativity in learning. He also has been an outspoken critic of standardized testing, particularly Common Core State Standards.

Scoring for the list was based on a number of factors, including Google Scholar score, Amazon sales and web mentions.
