The University of Oregon will once again focus on "positive body image" during the week of Feb. 18, in a campaign this week and this campaign meant to help UO faculty, staff and students feel comfortable with their appearance. The third-year effort is being coordinated by the UO Counseling and Testing Center, Health Center, the Student Recreation Center and University Housing. The "All Sizes Fit" campaign features a week’s worth of displays, presentations and activities that promote acceptance of body shapes while raising awareness about a health-at-all-sizes approach.

A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, for Rebecca "Becky" Vaughan, a longtime employee of the University of Oregon. Vaughan died of cancer on Jan. 31. She was 62. She worked since 1984 in the UO Police Department and the Parking and Transportation Department. She began her UO career in police dispatch, shifted to the front office in parking and then served for many years as that department's access coordinator. More recently, she continued to work half-time in parking during her retirement.

The report includes data on impact – economic and otherwise – and stories on the personalities behind research, innovation and graduate education. If you started work as a classified employee at the University of Oregon during the Reagan years – or earlier – then this party’s for you. Human Resources will sponsor an invitation-only event to recognize classified employees who have university service of 25 years or longer, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

The University of Oregon climbed to No. 8 in the Peace Corps’ 2013 Top Colleges rankings, a jump of two spots that reflected the university’s long-standing commitment to international service.The annual list recognizes the highest volunteer-producing colleges and universities for small, medium, large and graduate institutions.    Related: UO Rankings

The last of three open campus forums to discuss the issue of arming campus police officers will be on Wednesday, March 6.The first forum was Feb. 11 and the second was Feb. 26. Wednesday's event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

Seattle-based choreographer Mark Haim joins an eclectic evening of dance presented by the UO’s Department of Dance Feb. 14-16. The department will present Dance 2013, the annual faculty dance concert, at 8 p.m. on those nights in the Robinson Theatre in the Miller Theater Complex on the UO campus. The concert will feature new and repertory works by UO dance faculty members, UO dance students and local guest artist Cynthia Gutierrez-Garner.

Concussions may accelerate normal cognitive deterioration. So says Steven Broglio, assistant professor at University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology and director of the Neurotrauma Research Laboratory, who will discuss new research in concussions during a lecture provided by the UO Human Physiology department.
