OA Council Listening Tour visiting Portland's White Stag

The UO’s Officers of Administration Council is holding a series of listening tours to gain feedback about job positions and changes on campus. The next meeting will be held Jan. 30 in Portland at the White Stag Block.

The OA Council Listening Tour is comprised of six meetings; five are held at the UO campus in Eugene, and one in Portland. Additionally, an online survey is expected to be available soon for those who are unable to attend a listening session.

“Although we are all connected by email, there’s no replacing the human connection that people make by meeting in person, and because the meetings were very interactive, they were a great way to connect with others,” said Patrick Chinn, director of strategic communications for information services and facilitator of the OA events. “The Council will use the information we gather to better understand the needs and perspectives of our fellow OAs.”

OAs on the university campus include first-line supervisors, business and office managers, counselors, physicians, coaches, managers and executives, along with other positions.

The listening tours will engage UO employees to address challenges, concerns and common themes among the group.

“I view this survey as a part of one’s opportunity to participate in shared governance and influence change and opportunities for OAs at the UO,” said Miriam Bolton, administrative director for the College of Arts and Sciences and Chair of the OA Council.

The information from meetings and the online survey will be reported back to the OAs and senior administration.
