Nominations being accepted for Excellence in Advising Awards

Do you know an adviser on campus who fosters student growth while demonstrating a strong understanding of the cultural factors that impact student success and development? Then nominate that adviser for the inaugural University of Oregon Excellence in Advising Awards.

The Division of Undergraduate Studies and the All-Campus Advising Association (ACAA) will recognize one faculty adviser and one professional adviser who best exhibit the qualities associated with excellent advising with $2,000 awards each and a luncheon at the end of spring term.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to complete the nomination form by Monday, April 28, to nominate faculty and professional advisers who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Outstanding Professional Adviser: Any professional whose job devotes 50 percent or more of his/her FTE to undergraduate advising
  • Outstanding Faculty Adviser: Any tenure track, non-tenure track or adjunct faculty member who mentors or advises undergraduate students

Nominees will be notified by email and given the opportunity to submit an application for the Excellence in Advising Award. The application will include the following:

  • A brief statement addressing how the nominee exemplifies excellence in advising
  • A letter of recommendation

A review committee comprised of a faculty member, professional adviser and university leader will select the recipients.
