Vendors from across the country will gather at the Erb Memorial Union on Tuesday, Oct. 2, for the annual UO vendor showcase, where UO employees involved in purchasing products and services will connect with many vendors at one time and place.
“The information and relationships gained at this event will inform faculty and staff as they thoughtfully invest university dollars and align purchasing decisions throughout the year with university initiatives,” said Greg Shabram, interim director of purchasing and contracting services.
Vendors from a variety of fields will be available, including travel, information technology products and services, office supplies, scientific supplies, construction, and furniture. Faculty and staff members can explore new relationships, continue building existing vendor relationships and discover new ways of meeting needs in their units or departments.
Shabram said it is a good practice to regularly evaluate options and look for the best value when spending university dollars, and the vendor showcase gives university employees the opportunity to do just that.
Workshops and presentations will be offered throughout the day on a variety of purchasing topics.
“The come-and-go event is designed to meet a variety of needs while also putting some fun and flare into the purchasing process,” said Shari Powell, operations manager and event planner. “Activities and exhibits will be available all day with engaging displays, lively networking and snacks to keep participants energized.”
All faculty and staff members are invited to attend the vendor showcase. All attendees will find something of interest, whether they are a seasoned buyer or new to the world of university purchasing, Powell said. No registration is required to attend.
A complete schedule of presentations and workshops along with a vendor listing will be published in September. Visit the vendor showcase webpage for more information and new developments about the event as it approaches.
A schedule of upcoming classes are listed on the purchasing and contracting website.
