The ROSE Room, formally known as the Reusable Office Supplies Exchange, has changed focus from strictly excess business materials to a free store for employees and students needing school or office supplies, home goods and clothing.

A new addition this year is a stock of nice clothes. Donations are being accepted as part of a campaign to ‘Grow the ROSE’ and expand its inventory.

Volunteers are on hand in Room 182, Prince Lucien Campbell Hall from noon to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, to accept items. On other days, a key can be borrowed from the English department office in Room 118, PLC during open hours for donations or shopping. The Student Sustainability Center in Room 005 in the Erb Memorial Union is also a drop-off location.

The types of items sought have been modified to support a modern workplace with less paper as well as recognize the needs of students.

Welcome items include art supplies, extension cords, dishware, backpacks, writing utensils, notebooks, lamps, décor and small office wares, as well as clothing suitable for interviews or casual wear.

Items not accepted include binders, binder sleeves, file folders, textbooks, large equipment or furniture. Please contact Zero Waste to dispose of broken electronics.

The ROSE Room has been in operation at the UO since 1992 and is a collaboration between Zero Waste and the Student Sustainability Center. Questions about donations or the process can be emailed to uossc@uoregon.edu.
