Celebration of life for UO's Becky Vaughan

A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, for Rebecca "Becky" Vaughan, a longtime employee of the University of Oregon.

Vaughan died of cancer on Jan. 31. She was 62.

She worked since 1984 in the UO Police Department and the Parking and Transportation Department. She began her UO career in police dispatch, shifted to the front office in parking and then served for many years as that department's access coordinator. More recently, she continued to work half-time in parking during her retirement.

Vaughan, of Springfield, also was a member of Lane County's Victims Services 24-hour crisis team from 1992 to 2004, when the program was closed.

She was born in 1950 in Eugene and was a lifelong resident of the Eugene-Springfield area.

She is survived by her mother, Kathy McElroy; her husband, Bob; a daughter, Missy; a son, Jason, and his wife, Keeley; a sister, Aleta; two brothers, Michael and Patrick; and five grandchildren. Her father, Kenneth Allen, preceded her in death.

Saturday's celebration of life will be at the Springfield Faith Center, 600 Hayden Bridge Way. Vaughan's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a hospice of choice.
