Nominations open for Senate leadership and service awards

The University Senate is now accepting nominations for its annual awards for exemplary leadership and service.

Nominations for four awards will be accepted through Tuesday, April 25. Any member of the campus community may submit a nomination.

The annual awards recognize four members of the community for their exemplary leadership and service. The awards include:

UO Senate Award for Shared Governance, Transparency, and Trust is given to any administrator or member of the UO community who has best exemplified the principles of shared governance, transparency and trust during the past year.

Wayne T. Westling Award is named in honor of Wayne T. Westling, UO professor of law from 1979-2001, and is given to any faculty or staff member for outstanding and long-term leadership and service to the university.

UO Senate Classified Staff Leadership Award recognizes a classified employee who is a leader in one or more of these areas: personal and professional development, a respectful work environment, or diversity. Must have made "a difference through their actions and through collaborative relationships."

UO Senate Leadership and Service Award for Officers of Administration recognizes exemplary service and outstanding leadership of an officer of administration over a period of years. Must be committed to shared governance and participatory decision-making, and must fosters inclusiveness, respect and professional excellence.

Instructions about what to include with nominations are listed on each award’s web page. Nominations should be sent to senatecoordinator@uoregon.edu. The awards will be presented during a formal ceremony at the June 7 Senate meeting.
