Quintin Kreth is forging new paths, leaving impressive tracks for others to follow.The University of Oregon undergraduate’s most recent milestone: being named an “Inspirational Leader” in Oregon who is representing the Willamette Valley in the Conference on Volunteering and Service in Washington, D.C. in June.The conference is the world's largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors.
More of the Portland metro area’s top “Academic Achievers” will flock to the UO than to any other university in the world come fall.Portland-area high schools suggested more than 500 students for inclusion on The Oregonian’s elite list of top scholars. The students’ GPA average is 4.05 and they have many options for university study.
The breadth and depth of discovery at the University of Oregon was highlighted at a recent ceremony celebrating the 2013 Research Excellence Awards. Honors were handed out to six UO faculty members in history, biology, chemistry, architecture, English and linguistics. The event took place at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.President Michael Gottfredson, in his opening remarks, pointed to the fact that the awardees were nominated by their peers for the awards and noted how pleased he was to be able to recognize faculty for their research.
