Events coming soon to campus include a tribute to late UO alumnus James Blue, guest lectures on spending, politics and aerobic exercise and a concert by a musical group from Tijuana.

• A book launch will be held on Nov. 12 for UO anthropology professor Lynn Stephen’s "We Are the Face of Oaxaca: Testimony and Social Movements." The event will feature guest speakers who were involved in the creation and content of the book; it is free and open to the public.
• The late UO alumnus James Blue will be honored with a six-month tribute to his career as an independent filmmaker. Blue was known for his socially-engaged documentaries and teaching. The tribute will kick off on Nov. 13-14 with Schnitzer Cinema’s presentation of his film “The March” at 7 p.m. and will culminate in April 2014. • John Nichols and Robert McChesney, authors of “Dollarocracy,” will be featured as guest speakers at a free lecture on Nov. 14. The lecture will be in 175 Knight Law Center at 7 p.m. They will discuss the effects of big spending on politics; the authors will be available to sign copies of their recently published book after the lecture. • Robert Anderson, professor of law and director of the Native American Law Center at the University of Washington, will present a lecture called “A Problem Prone Promise: Recurring Issues in Fulfilling the Federal Trust Responsibility to Indian Nations” on Nov. 21. • J. Andrew Taylor, Ph.D., will present a lecture called “Aerobic Exercise for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury: Circumventing the Lesion” from 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 22 in Room 132 of Lillis Business Complex.
• Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fussible, a Grammy-nominated musical group from Tijuana, Mexico, will be in Eugene Nov. 22-23 to screen their documentary film and perform. The UO College of Education’s Department of Education Studies is sponsoring the event with other organizations at the university. The documentary “Tijuana: Sonidos del Nortec,” will be shown at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 in Room 124 of the Global Scholars Hall; it is free and open to the public. The concert will be held at 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at the McDonald Theatre. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
• Jeff Duncan-Andrade will present the Oregon Humanities Center’s Cressman lecture, “Note to Educators: Hope Required When Growing Roses in Concrete” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 in Room 180 in Prince Lucien Campbell Hall. For more information, call 541 346-3934 or email here.
