FYI Fridays offers opportunities for UO employees to learn

FYI Fridays is a new opportunity from the Learning and Development team in the Office of Human Resources for University of Oregon faculty, classified staff, officers of administration, graduate employees and student employees. The goal is to give these groups the opportunity to connect and learn from each other. Sessions will last from 30 to 90 minutes and will take place on Fridays during the academic year.

FYI Fridays events in April and May are:

  • Situational Awareness and Who to Call – Krista Dillon, Safety and Risk Services.
  • Find Your Outdoors with the Outdoor Program (interactive tour) – Hira Shamsuddin, Outdoor Program.
  • Revitalize Your Routine: Introducing the UO Recreation Center – Chantelle Russell and Al Diaz, Physical Education and Recreation.

This new learning opportunity is intended to give employees the chance to share their knowledge with colleagues, and employees are encouraged to propose an FYI Fridays presentation. Presentations should be of interest to a broad audience, focused on building awareness or developing foundational skills, and should be one-time events.

For example, presenters could share a resource their unit or department has developed, widely relevant research findings, or a tour of an exhibit or facility. To submit a proposal or find out more about presentation requirements, visit the FYI Fridays proposal submission webpage. Learning and Development is now accepting proposals for spring and fall 2024.
