Here's how to find or donate unneeded office supplies

For those employees cleaning or moving offices or just tidying up before the next academic year, the ROSE Room and UO Surplus are available as locations to drop off supplies or do some no-cost shopping.

The Reusable Office Supplies Exchange, as it is formally known, is open to staff and students. Find it in Room 182, Prince Lucien Campbell Hall. Students staffed the room during spring term but in the summer a key can be borrowed from the English department office in Room 118 PLC during its open hours.

The types of items sought have been modified to support a modern workplace with less paper as well as recognize the needs of students.

Items that are welcomed include art supplies, extension cords, dishware, backpacks, writing utensils, notebooks, lamps, decor and other small office wares.

Items not accepted include binders, binder sleeves, file folders, clothes, textbooks, large equipment or furniture. Please contact Zero Waste to dispose of broken electronics.

Tables, desks, chairs and more can be acquired by employees for free for on-campus only use. Staff can post items to the UO surplus website and if there are no takers, donate them to the surplus furniture program. Visit the south entrance of the Romania warehouse near 15th Avenue and Orchard Street Tuesday through Thursday, 3-7 p.m. to see furnishings in person.

Public sales will be held weekly this summer. Prices for furniture, office supplies, buckets and reusable sporks start at $1.

The ROSE Room has been in operation at the University of Oregon since 1992 and is a collaboration between Zero Waste and the Student Sustainability Center. Questions about donations or the process can be emailed to uossc@uoregon.edu.
