Mandatory workplace harassment prevention training begins

A required training program on prevention workplace harassment is now available online for University of Oregon faculty, staff and GTFs.

Workplace Harassment Prevention” must be completed by all regular, full- and part-time UO employees and GTFs by March 30, 2014, said the university’s human relations department.

The training will inform faculty and staff about behaviors that constitute prohibited discrimination and sexual harassment and clarify employees’ understanding of their duty to report credible information regarding incidents of prohibited discrimination, including sexual assault, partner or dating violence and gender-based stalking, the department said.

Human Resources/Organizational Development and Training will track employee completion of the training. Temporary and student employees are not required to train, but are strongly encouraged to complete these online courses.

The 4-step training consists of:

To access and take the training, UO employees will use their Duck ID. If you have not established your Duck ID, you will need to do so in advance of taking the training.

Large group training sessions will be held to present the two online courses and facilitate a discussion about key points for employees who do not have regular computer access or who, for other reasons, require facilitator lead training.

Those courses will have limited capacity and are intended for employees who are unable or will have difficulty taking the training online. Unit heads are asked to help identify employees who will need or benefit from facilitator lead training.

Supervisors should send a list of employees who will require facilitator lead training to Pam Farmer, director of HR/Organizational Development and Training, with the best time of day for the training for employees in their area.

A schedule of dates and times for facilitator lead training will posted on the HR/ODT website. For more information, email MandatoryTraining@uoregon.edu.
