New program pairs UO students with Portland organizations

A new internship will launch in Portland next summer, and the University of Oregon is seeking small business and nonprofits to participate.

The Student Recovery Corps internship experience is a 10-week program that will pair UO undergraduate students with partnering small businesses, nonprofits, and educational civic agencies that would benefit from internship assistance and can provide educational opportunities.

“What’s unique about this internship program is that students will receive a philanthropically funded stipend from the university to participate,” said Jane Gordon, vice provost of UO Portland. “We recognize that many wonderful organizations have limited funds but can provide a valuable experience and mentorship to a student. We wanted to remove that financial barrier and help business during this challenging time.”

Employers can fill out a short form by Nov. 24 and will be contacted by a UO staff member to discuss the opportunities. Information will be available in January for students who are interested in participating.
