Nominations accepted for Distinguished Service Award

Nominations will be accepted through March 29 for the Distinguished Service Award, the UO’s highest awards for service.

The award recognizes those "who by their knowledge and skills have made a significant contribution to the cultural and development of Oregon or society as a whole." Up to three awards may be given each year, presented at June Commencement.

The Distinguished Service Awards – first presented in 1956 – are determined by the UO faculty, followed by a vote in the University Senate. Current UO faculty, staff and students are ineligible, along with members of the State Board of Higher Education and candidates for political office, and the awards may not be given posthumously.

This year's nomination form and a list of previous winners are available at http://president.uoregon.edu/distinguishedservice. Please send nominations to Dave Hubin, chair of the Distinguished Service Award and Honorary Degree Committee, at the Office of the President or by email to hubin@uoregon.edu.

The Committee on Distinguished Service Awards and Honorary Degrees and the Office of the President also seek, on an ongoing basis, your suggestions for possible recipients of an honorary degree from the University of Oregon. Those should be sent separately to Hubin.
