Olympic Trials will affect traffic and parking around campus

University staff members are working with Eugene city officials on vehicle parking options for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field later this month.

Some changes take effect June 15. Event bike valet services, PeaceHealth Rides bike share and free event shuttles also are available to visitors on event days.

Transportation Services will maintain the most up-to-date information on its website, where the campus community can view parking lot closures and traffic changes before coming to campus during the trials.

Limited city street closures around campus begin today, June 15:

  • Agate Street between East 13th and East 18th avenues will be closed through June 28.
  • East 18th Avenue between University and Agate streets will be closed June 17-27.

Restricted access to some campus streets also begins June 15. UO employees will be asked to show proper identification to access ADA spaces and reserved parking spaces at check points on University Street between East 18th and East 13th avenues and East 13th Avenue between Agate and University streets.

Employees can also ride their bikes or pick up a blue PeaceHealth Rides bike and use free bike parking. The bike valet will operate on competition days and will open when the main spectator gates open and close 30 minutes after competition ends. The valet service will be located along Agate Street next to the midblock pedestrian crossing south of the University Health Center.

Visit Transportation Service’s website for more information on the blue PeaceHealth Rides bikes.
