Second open forum scheduled on Friday for VPRI search

Provost and Senior Vice President Patrick Phillips will host the second of two public forums for University of Oregon community members to solicit feedback on the qualities they want to see in the next vice president for research and innovation.

The forum is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the EMU Cedar and Spruce rooms. It will also be livestreamed for anyone who cannot attend in person.

Phillips and the UO are conducting an open, national search to fill the position that will be open when David Conover, the current vice president for research and innovation, retires in July 2020. Conover oversees and coordinates the university’s research proposal submissions, compliance and contracts and grant administration.

A committee made up of UO research and innovation stakeholders is assisting in the search, and the executive recruiting firm Isaacson Miller has been retained to run the search.

Anyone who cannot attend but wants to ask a question can send it to provost@uoregon.edu by Thursday, Feb. 6. Phillips will also answer live questions that are sent during the forum.
