Some campus services, buildings to cut hours over summer

As activity slows down on campus during summer, expect to see reduced hours for many buildings and services during the coming months.

Most locations and services will be closed for Juneteenth on June 19, Independence Day on July 4 and Labor Day on Sept. 2. Zero week, the week before the start of the summer session, runs through June 23 and summer term begins June 24.

Campus Planning and Facilities Management has real-time information on closures and major projects on the department’s Construction Impacts map.

Parking spaces may be easier to find, but all campus lots will be patrolled by Transportation Services as usual. Summer term parking permits are on sale now, become active on June 24 and expire on Sept. 22.

The community can expect traffic and parking around Hayward Field to be affected by the U.S. Olympic Trials – Track and Field event starting June 16. Transportation Services will list updated campus information if and when conditions change while the TrackTown USA website will have primary event details. The Olympic Trials map displays the event footprint including ticketed areas and parking impacts.

The Erb Memorial Union begins summer hours on June 22. The building will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of second summer session, Aug. 16. Starting Aug. 17, it will be open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and closed on weekends through mid-September. Most, but not all, EMU food vendors will be open throughout the summer with some adjustments during the Olympic Trials.

The dining areas at the Unthank and Carson residence halls will be open to the community with a variety of daily buffet entrées and other options such as salad bar, sandwiches, coffee and desserts. Carson Dining is closed from July 16 to Aug. 20 and Unthank is closed Aug. 21 to Sept. 15.

Three coffee cafés remain open for summer term:

  • Lillis Café in Lillis Hall.
  • Elements CaFe in Price Science Commons.
  • Education Station Café in HEDCO Education.

The UO Campus Map has a food app layer and has a feature to drop a pin in a location and to get a unique URL to send to a coworker to meet for coffee.

Campus Mail Services is open with limited route services to accommodate department closures. If there are questions or accommodation requests please contact them by email, uomailing@uoregon.edu, or phone at 541-346-3130.

University Health Services, including Counseling Services, is open for patient care June 17-21, 9 a.m. to noon. From June 24 to Sept. 13, health services will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for dental services, which opens at 8 a.m. For questions regarding care or scheduling please call 541-346-2700. University Counseling Services after-hours support and crisis line is available at 541-346-3227.

Knight Library will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., June 15–Sept. 29, and closed on weekends. The Knight Law Center will be open for UO ID card holders but closed to the public from June 17 to Aug. 11 and can arrange curbside pickup for public patrons. UO Libraries will be closed on July 10 for an all-personnel retreat. Visit the UO Libraries website for specific library location hours.

Ride-hailing services will operate as usual while some LTD buses serving campus may have limited schedules. Duck Rides is closed for the summer.

Plan summer workouts around the Student Recreation Center modified hours. The faculty/staff fitness block is unavailable until fall term. Memberships can be purchased for the summer term period that runs June 17 until Sept. 20. Duck Trail summer camp participants will be using part of the center. During the Olympic Trials the Uptown Courts, Uptown Fitness and Studio 283 will be unavailable to the public from June 14 to July 1 . The facility will be closed for annual maintenance from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15.

The Museum of Natural and Cultural History will be open regular hours with special hours June 24-25 during the Olympic Trials. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will also operate on regular hours.

The Duck Store flagship and EMU locations are open regular hours while the rec center location is open weekdays. As part of the Flock 13 development project, the exterior of The Duck Store is getting a refresh, but it will be open while that work is being completed.

The Technology Service DeskEMU computer lab and User Support Services-Academic North service desks will operate on reduced schedules, as detailed in the UO Service Portal.

Tech support tickets can be submitted through the UO Service Portal 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the year. UO IT staff will respond to tickets when available.

Fall term starts Sept. 30, while the School of Law resumes classes Aug. 26.
