The University of Oregon will upgrade its ID card reader system during spring break, causing a few days of downtime for some card-related services.
The maintenance is scheduled to begin Monday, March 25, and could last up to five days. It will affect the UO’s Eugene and Portland campuses.
UO ID cards will continue to work for most purposes throughout the maintenance. For example, people can continue using Duck Bucks in UO Dining and Erb Memorial Union dining facilities.
However, people will be unable to do the following:
- Get new UO ID cards printed.
- Upload photos for UO ID cards.
- Add money to Duck Bucks accounts.
- Request meals from Ducks Feeding Ducks.
- Use printers that require Duck Bucks, such as in many computer labs.
"If you plan to eat meals on campus during spring break, be sure to top off your Duck Bucks account by March 24," said Tamarra White, assistant director, EMU retail and student services.
Printers that accept credit cards will be unaffected by the downtime. The Eugene campus has several such printers, including the following:
- EMU, two locations on ground floor: in the Tech Support and Print Services hub and under the grand staircase
- Barnhart Hall, ground floor
- Building B (new residence hall), first floor
- Global Scholars Hall, first floor
- Justice Bean Hall, commons
- Living Learning Center North, first floor
- Unthank Hall, first floor
"We've scheduled this critical upgrade during a low-traffic time to minimize impacts," White said. "For those remaining on campus during the break, we ask for your patience."
