UO Alerts system to be tested as part of the Great ShakeOut

Safety and Risk Services will test the UO Alerts emergency notification system Thursday, Oct. 17, at 10:17 a.m. as part of the Great Oregon ShakeOut.

ShakeOut is a voluntary statewide drop, cover and hold earthquake drill. The alert messaging will provide information on earthquake preparedness and will encourage campus to practice drop, cover and hold.

All UO students and employees will receive a UO Alert email to their uoregon.edu accounts. Everyone who has opted in to receive SMS text alerts will receive a text message noting that the UO is conducting a test of its alert system and reminding the community of earthquake safety and preparedness resources.

The UO tests its notification system at least quarterly.
