UO emergency management leader graduates from FEMA academy

This summer, Andre Le Duc, the University of Oregon executive director of Enterprise Risk Services, graduated from FEMA’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Md.

Le Duc completed the four courses in the executive academy – Emergency Management - A Leadership Challenge; Integrating Science into Emergency Management Policies and Decisions; Emergency Management in the 21st Century; and Exercising Emergency Management Executive Policy and Decision-Making – which support the advancement of the emergency management profession at strategic policy and executive leadership levels.

In addition to his role at UO, he is also executive director of the Oregon Partnership for Disaster Resilience. He is responsible for coordinating the partnership and developing hazard mitigation projects around the state. The UO’s Community Service Center assists Oregon communities by providing planning and technical assistance to help solve local issues and improve the preparedness of Oregon residents.

The National Emergency Management Leaders Academy is designed for current and future emergency management executives in state, local, tribal, territorial and federal government agencies; non-profit voluntary organizations; and the private sector. It provides insights, theories, tools and resources that enable decision-makers to think and act more strategically and to build capacity to protect against, prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate all types of disasters.
