Due to a later-than-expected rollout of a key federal financial aid form, the University of Oregon is extending its enrollment confirmation deadline by one month to June 1 for first-year students enrolling this fall for the 2024-25 academic year. 

The change is due to a delay in releasing a revised Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the form commonly known as FAFSA, which schools use to compute financial aid. The extension allows prospective students time to review financial aid offers and seek any needed additional guidance before making a decision. 

“We understand that the changing federal financial aid process has been extremely challenging for all prospective college students across the country,” said Roger Thompson, vice president for student services and enrollment management. “While all of us — students, families, colleges and universities — face some uncertainty at this time, we want to assure our admitted students that we are here to provide as much guidance and support as possible.”

The UO is supporting future students by providing clarity and additional time while students make the right decision for them and their families. In addition to the extended deadlines, admissions staff will assist students and families navigating this process through admitted student events and programs throughout the spring.
