UO faculty members to receive salary increases on Jan. 1

Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, eligible faculty members at the University of Oregon will receive an annual salary increase.

The salary increases are for the 2019 fiscal year and have implications for both represented and nonrepresented tenure-track faculty members and career non-tenure-track faculty members. To receive an increase in salary, faculty members must be appointed to their positions as of Dec. 31, 2018.

The salary increases stem from the United Academics collective bargaining agreement with the university. The agreement originally ran from 2015 to 2018, but union representatives agreed to extend the contract to 2020. Both represented and nonrepresented faculty members who are eligible will receive salary increases.

Tenure-track faculty members will receive a 1.25 percent across-the-board increase Jan. 1. There’s an additional pool of 0.75 percent to address equity that will be distributed after an internal study currently underway is completed. Money from the equity pool will be distributed as soon as it’s available and will be retroactive to Jan. 1.

Under the agreement, career non-tenure-track faculty members will receive a 2 percent across-the-board increase on Jan. 1, 2019.
