The Lane Transit District unveils a new electronic pass and fare option Aug. 1, but University of Oregon employees and students will continue to simply show their UO ID cards to ride.

LTD's TouchPass allows riders to pay fares or use bus passes through their mobile devices or a preloaded TouchPass card. However, valid UO ID card holders shouldn't use the new system and instead continue to display their UO ID card at boarding or upon request by an LTD employee in order to ride free.

The UO may work with LTD in the future on ways to validate riders and better track ridership, but UO ridership rules remain the same for now.
