UOPD seeks help identifying burglary suspect

The University of Oregon Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a pair of recent burglaries at the UO School of Law.

An unidentified man stole two Apple Macintosh iMac desktop computers during the the Labor Day weekend. The computers, stolen Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 from law school offices, are valued at about $2,500.

Security camera footage showed the computers being taken by a man who is about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and 230 to 260 pounds, with short brown hair and a goatee. He wore wire-frame glasses, a beige baseball cap, khaki shorts, a printed short-sleeve button-front shirt, white socks and low-top tan and black hiking shoes.

The same man is suspected in a similar burglary at the law school building in May 2012, when another iMac computer valued at about $1,500 was taken.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspect should contact the UO Police Department at 541-346-2919.

In a similar but unrelated case, security footage led to the arrest of two suspects in a pair of July burglaries in which a total of three iMac computers were stolen from the UO School of Music and Dance. With images provided by UOPD, local law enforcement agencies were able to identify Matthew Roy Sosa, 29, who was charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree theft and first-degree criminal mischief; and Frank Thanh Nguyen, 38, who was charged with second-degree criminal trespass.
